Whack-a-mole

In IT, this is a term used to describe a situation where a problem keeps recurring after it is supposedly fixed. The term was inspired by the arcade game, Whac-A-Mole.

An example of a whack-a-mole situation is when one cleans a malware-ridden computer only to find it re-infected again.
